Overview
Resistant dextrin is a low-molecular-weight, water-soluble dietary fibre produced from edible starch through controlled acid-heat hydrolysis, enzymatic liquefaction and saccharification, followed by chromatographic purification, concentration and drying.
Maxeve supplies this ingredient as an authorized reseller and importer of record, sourced directly from a verified overseas manufacturing partner and delivered to contract manufacturers and CPG brands across Canada.
Key value
- Fibre content above 90% on a low-molecular-weight soluble base
- Low sweetness (~10% of sucrose) with a near-neutral, clean taste
- High process stability — resists breakdown under acid, heat and freeze-thaw
- Low caloric contribution; largely non-digestible in the small intestine
- Excellent water solubility and dispersibility for beverage and dry-blend systems
Applications
- Beverages and powdered drink mixes
- Bakery, cereal and bar systems
- Dairy and dairy-alternative products
- Functional and nutritional formulations
- Confectionery and brewing applications

Regulatory status
- Canada
- Reviewed and accepted as a dietary fibre by Health Canada's Food Directorate; permitted for use in foods. "Source of fibre" / "high source of fibre" claims may be used where the finished product meets Health Canada thresholds.
- United States
- Recognized by the U.S. FDA as a dietary fiber (resistant maltodextrin/dextrin); GRAS for its intended uses.
Any nutrient-content or health claim on a finished product is the responsibility of the finished-product manufacturer and must be substantiated to Health Canada / CFIA (and U.S. FDA) standards before use.
