Overview
Isomaltooligosaccharides are alpha-linked glucose oligomers (isomaltose, panose, isomaltotriose and higher) produced enzymatically from starch. They are supplied as a spray-dried powder or as a syrup.
IMO is used mainly as a bulking and texturizing carbohydrate with mild sweetness and good humectancy, often in bars, confectionery and syrup systems where partial sugar replacement and binding are both required.

- Used as a carbohydrate food ingredient. IMO is not presented as a dietary fibre: Health Canada does not treat it as an accepted fibre source by default, and any fibre or nutrient-content claim would require separate substantiation for the finished product.
